PASSENGER STEAMER SERVICES.
MAHEKO TO BE RECOMMISSIONED. MAUNGANUI TO RELIEVE MAKURA. The Union Company announces that the turbine steamer Maheno, •which is at present undergoing an extentivo overhaul at Port Chalmers., will be recommissioned early in August. The vessel is schedule 1 to leave Port Chalmers about August 7 for Sydney direct. She should arrive there on August 11, and will sail on August 14 for Auckland with passengers, mails, and cargo. The Maheno will continue in the Sydney-Auckland and Sydney-Weilington service until further notice. The R.M.S. Makura will withdraw temporarily from the San Francisco service on arrival at Wellington on August 3. She wil undergo annual overhaul and survey, and will sail on October 13 for Rarotonga. Papeete, and San Prilncisco. The Maunganui is to leave Wellington about August 5 for Sydney, in place of the Makura, and will sail from Sydney on August 13 and from Wellington on August 18 for Rarotonga, Papeete, and San Francisco. The Maunganui will be due back at Wellington on September 28, and at Sydney on October 3. She will sail from Sydney on October 9 for Auckland, thus taking up her usual intercolonial running.
