(Received July 14, at 0.5 a.m.) The Chicago Tribune’s correspondent at Dayton declares that Professor Scopes is as good as convicted unless a miracle happens and the Lord speaks in a way that the devout hill folk do not expect. Mr Bryan in his ahirb sleeves preached* twice on Sunday. He said: “I fear the aristocracy of wealth, I respect the aristocracy of learning, but I revere the democracy of God.” His oration was punctuated by a chours of “Amens” from the congregation.
