NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITION.
CANADA INTERESTED. (From Oran Own Correspondent.) VANCOUVER, June 16. As a sequel to the liberal advertising afforded New Zealand and its potentialities among Canadians through the frequent visits of leading representatives of the southern dominion, Canada is arousing itself to the importance of the forthcoming Exhibition to he staged in Dunedin, and prospects of a Canadian exhibit on a large scale have been opened up by the announcement that Canada has been promised special consideration and has been offered the largest section of the ‘building with the best location in the Exhibition. According to information received in Montreal, the Canadian Government will participate in the Exhibition in the same way as at Wembley, provided the Canadian manufacturers take advantage of the opportunity thus afforded to display their goods “to a people who have shown a partiality for products of this dominion.” as was stated in the Montreal Daily Star _ a few_ days' ago. Alluding to the Dunedin Exhibition and Canada’s participation, the Montreal newspaper said: “Canada will take part at the direct invitation of the New Zealand Government. The Department of Immigration and Colonisation has promised that if Canadian manufacturers and exporters respond to the invitation a general information bureau will be established with office space for the officials in charge as well as accommodation for the exhibitors in which to meet customers. In a period of 10 years the Canadian exports to New Zealand increased from 2,500,000 dollars to 15,000,000 dollars. Canadian goods enter the country with a 15 per cent, preference on ad valorem rates of duty.” The Star adds: “It is stated that Canadian experience at Wembley has proved that there is a great publicity and business advantage to bo gained from the arrangements of exhibits in other countries. Many unique and attractive features have already been planned to make Canadian producia outstanding among those of the other countries. The British Government has already announced its intention of taking a big part in the Exhibition at Dunedin.”
