MERTON DAIRY COMPANY. The balance of the cheese manufactured by the Merton Dairy Company during (ho season just ended hao been disposed of at the price of OJd per lb, f.o.b. Tho earlier make realised 9Jd and OJd. Tho whole of tho sales have been made per medium of tho New Zealand Producers' Co-operative Marketing Association. It is believed that these prices aro tho highest which have been obtained in New Zealand during tho past season, and the Merton factory directors and suppliers are to bo congratulated on tho very satisfactory ealoa that have been made. STAER-BOWKETT SOCIETY. A meeting of members of the United StarrBowkett Building Society was held last evening to dispose of £'2ooo. Mr E. A. Rosovcar (chairman of directors) presided over a large meeting. Ho stated that another £2OOO would bo disposed of thin month, and again urged all those who wore not already members to take up shares without delay. Although tho society was the largest in the South Island, they had a little way to go before they oould be equal to Auckland, One society in Auckland had over 50 groups. Tho people of Dunedin, however, wore realising more and more tho benefits to bo derived from membership and co-operation. A ballot was held for tho 48th appropriation in No. 5 Group, dusted No. 220 being drawn, held by four members. A sale was held for tho 49th appropriation in Xvo. 5 Group, which resulted as follown: £44 per £IOO. A ballot was held for tHo 19th appropriation in No. 7 Group, cluster No. 151 being drawn, held by one member. New Zealand “Otematata” brought 26d to 234 d and N.Z. Cable. Messrs Murray, Roberta, and Co. (Ltd.) aro in receipt of a cable from their London agents, dated July 7, reading a s under: — Tho wool sales have opened with a good tone and large attendance of buyers. Competition is good, all sections operating. There is a good selection of merino. Compared with closing rates of last London sales, grea-sy merino advanced 5 per cent to 10 per cent. Best descriptions show the greatest advance. Scoured merino: Few offering and tho market shows no material change. Fine crossbred greasy advanced 5 per cent. to 10 per cent.; medium and coarse crossbred greasy, practically none offered. Compared with the opening ratea of last London sales, crossbred scoured and slipe crossbred show no material change. Messrs Murray, Roberto, rfnd Co.
