COLLIE DOG TRIALS.

PALMERSTON CLUB. The annual trials of the Palmerston Collie Club were concluded yesterday The competitors who failed to get a run on Thursday were unfortunate, ns the weather conditions when the trials were opened yesterday were a groat handicap. A cold wind and a driving rain with intervals of sunshine made work in the Huntaway very didicult. However, despite the inclemency of the weather, some good work was done, and the few spectators who braved the elements were treated to some exceptionally fine displays. Commenting on the performances, the Judge, Mr M. J. Elliott, said that the Huntaway was one of the best he had judged, and taken all through the work done by all the competitors was well above the average. The winner of the Open Hnntawav. Mr J. Welsh’s Lance, made an excellent run, for which the judge awarded the maximum points—lo. The remainder of the starters were close behind the winner, in the majority of cases only one point separating each dog.
