PRINCE OF WALES
GREETINGS BY BASUTOS. CAPETOWN. May 29. Heavy rain in Basutoland caused a postponement of the “Pitso/’ arranged for Hie Prince of Wales, who is acclaimed "the Croat Rain-bvinger." It was a fantastic sight to see the whole nation sitting round in the glow of camp-fires to-day, with the Prince setfted in the midst of the natural amphitheatre. Eight chiefs gravely advanced, and bowed. Their address stated that they yielded to no nation as (ho most loyal and devoted subjects of the King, and they begged that the protection and guidance of the Throne would never be removed. A mighty roar of cheers, resembling the sound of an angry sea, greeted the Prince as he drove around in full dress military uniform. The Basutos rose in their saddles and frantically waved swords, sjamboks and knobkovries. T'ne paramount chief ended a brief speech with “May God save the King. 1 ' The Prince presented 17 chiefs w:ui walking-sticks ami imjw;wd on them that the King watched over the::' v .i.L a fatherly care.
