In the Police Court William Henry Smith, William Raymond Smith, Gordon Douglas Inkster, and John Renzo Davies were charged with the theft of a large quantity of good from city warehouses, and also with receiving. They were all remanded for sentence. ■' BLENHEIM, June 12. The Borough Council, by a,majority of one, decided to appoint a borough engineer and to call for applications at a salary of £4OO per annum. MURCHISON, June 12. Tho Buffer Progress League last evening decided to request Mr Hudson, member lor tho district, to urge the Alinistor to make a substantial increase in the gumt for tho Glonhope-Murchison railway, and also to expedite the workof construction. It was agreed to support the Alarlborough League, requesting the early completion of tho Tophousc-Blen’heim road. Satisfaolion was expressed _at tho Canterbury League’s report referring to the Glenhope line, but exception was taken to Mr Cockayne’s report on the district. It was decided to request tho Nelson League’s cooperation in securing a soil survey by the Cawthron Institute.
