FIRE IN MATERNITY HOSPITAL
PATIENTS QUICKLY REMOVED. PROMPT SAVE BY FIRE BRIGADE. (Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE, Juno 12. Rate tin's afternoon blade smoke was seen issuing- from tbo roof of St. Helens Home. This patients, under tho cure of the nursing staff, were speedily removed. The fire brigade made a very prompt appearance, and it was seen that the blaze had originated in tho kitchen, the ceiling and the top of tho wall being alight. The brigade made a smart, save, the fire, being soon got under control, but several rooms were damaged through water. Tho building is built partly of wood and partly of iron, and consists of 20 rooms and tlireo wards.
