OTAGO LAND BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Otago Land Board was held yesterday, and was attended by Messrs XL S. Galbraith (Commissioner of Crown Lands), T, A. Miinro, C, J. Inder, James Smith, and Geo. Livingstone. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND. D. O’Brien applied to purchase sections 210 and 211 a, block IV, Fapakaio district, area 11a 3r 07p.—Declined. Miscellaneous license cancelled as from July 12 next, the licensee having left the district. Margaret Donnelly applied for an occupation lease over section 17, and a small area adjoining (about 31 acres in all), block 11, Bannockburn district. —Granted provisionally, subject to survey. Field inspector to suggest rent when survey completed. F. Ball lessee of section 29, block I, Wakefield 'district, area 182 a 3r 34p, applied for an additional urea of 209 acres adjoining —Declined. Maxwell Winders applied to purchase for cash sections 42. 43, block XIV, Lower Wanaka S.D., area 8a Or 22p.—Granted at total price of £lO. Goodsir and Forrester, lessees of section 7, block VII, Gatlins district, area 217 a 2r 20p, applied to select section 17 same block, area 134 a Ir 16p. —Section to be reopened for selection on optional system at a capital value of £l2O, without any loading for improvements. DISPOSAL OF LAND. The Field Inspector submitted report on section Is, Melville Park Settlement, area 36a lr 28p.—Recommended that section he reopened for selection at a capital value of £I6OO, weighted with £lll 0s valuation for improvements and £325 for buildings being repayable by half-yearly insalments over a period of 14 years. The board was requested to consider the question of grating a. title to part sections 8 and 9, block VI, Hillend district, containing an area of 3r 15p.—License under seition 147 of the Land Act, 1924, granted to Thomas Creighton at a rental of £1 per annum. MISCELLANEOUS. The Education Reserve lease over section 20, block 22, Oamam town, expired on April 20, 1925, and the Land Board was asked to’deal with the matter.—Lease for 21 years to be offered by public auction, weighted with £1133 valuation for improvements, upset annual rental £ls. The Education Reserve lease over section •2 block IV, Glenomuru, expired on May 30, and the Land Board ''"as asked to deal with the matter.—Lessee offered a renewal for 21 years front July 1, 1925, at an annual rental of £3 15s. The Education Reserve lease over section 24 block IX, Glcnkcnich S.D., expired on April 30, 1925, and the Laud Hoard was asked to deal with the matter.—Lessee to be offered a renewal for a term of 21 years from July 1, 1925, at an annual rental of £7O; should rental not be accepted lease for same term and rental (upset) to be offered by public auction, weighted with £lO2 5s valuution for improvements. The occupation lease over section 98, block X St. Balkans S.D., expires on December 31 next, and the Land Board was asked to appoint an appraiser to assess the rental value for the new term. —Field Inspector O’Neill appointed. appraiser to assess rental value. , The following applications for the Ice simple were approved:—Section 86, Ardgovvan Estate, 12 acres, to Robt. Alex. M’Dowcll; sections 3,5, block XV, Rimu S.D., 191 a3r 08p, to James Hollows. The Land Board was asked to consider the question of declaring the license of section 17, block XII, Tautuku survey district, forfeited, for non-payment of rent. —License declared forfeited. _ ’The licensee of paid section 1,7 a. block XIV, Tuapoka East, requested that his year-to-year grazing license be determined,—License determined as from July 11, 1925. The Commissioner reported that John Alexander Grcor, who holds a year-to-year license over a area, of land in the town of Kurow, has left the district.—License cancelled and Greer allowed one month in which to remove his improvements. “THIRDS.” ETC. The Wailaki County Council submitted a proposal for the expenditure of "thirds,” etc., for the period ended April 30. 1925, amounting to £152‘15s 2d.—Proposals approved and receiver authorised to pay. The Waikouaiti County Council submitted a proposal for the expenditure of “thirds,” etc. for the period ended April 30, 1925, amounting to £ls 17s Bd.—Proposals approved and receiver authorised to pay. The Taieri County Council submitted a proposal for the expenditure of “thirds,’ etc., for the period ended April 30. 1925, amounting to £l6 5s 7d.—Proposals approved, and receiver authorised to pay. The Clutha County Council submitted a proposal for the expenditure of “thirds,” etc., for the period ending April 30. 1925, amounting to .£7B 12s Gel.—Proposals approved and receiver authorised to pay. The Lake County Council submitted a proposal for the expenditure of “thirds, etc., for the period ended April 30, 1925, amounting to £l2 14a BtL—Proposals approved and receiver authorised -to pay. NON-REGISTRATION OF TRANSFER. The Commissioner reported that the transfer granted in October last of lease, of lot 560, ' ]>enniore, from Albert Wm. Hoad to Charles Richard Hoad, had not yet been registered.—Bold over till next meeting. TRANSFERS. The following transfers were approved: Section 52a, Steward Settlement, 66a lr 30p. and section 53a, Steward Settlement, 55a’ 3r 3Gp, from Ma.ry Jane Forbes to Claude R. Maindonald. Fart 2 of 46, block X, Oamaru, 14a lr 38p, ficm William Robertson and George Robertson to James Robertson and Duncan' Robertson. Section sa, Totara Settlement, 158 a lr OUp, from John Carmichael to David James M'Clea. Sections 74 and 73, block I. Naseby, 103 a 2r 04p, from Philip John Biown to Archibald Dow. Run 223, Blacltstono and Foolburn, 1680 a 3r, from Chas. A. Brown to Robt. A, Glendinning. Part block XL. town of Lawrence, 20p, from Fredk. Walter Cole to Fredk. A. Pearce. Section 10, block IX, Rankleburn, 24a 2r 38p, and section 11, block IX, Rankleburn, 22,i 3r 31p, Thos. A. MTvenzic to Albert Waite. APPLICATION FOR LAND. J. W. Kerr, lessee of section 4s, Kelso Settlement, applied for a renewable lease over section 3s, same settlement.—Application granted and receiver authorised to pay £33 fos to James Kemp and £i 10s to costs of reentry, out of valuation for improvements. (LEASE FORFEITED. The matter of the forfeiture of lease of section 7, block VIII, Woodland S.D., came before the Land Board on May 13, when it was resolved that it be held over for one month. The board was now asked to deal with the matter.—Leave declared for forfeiture.
