TASMANIAN ELECTIONS

LITTLE INTEREST MANIFESTED. EQUAL DIVISION OF SEATS PROD ABLE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. HOBART, June 4. The General Election was held yesterday. The polling proceeded quietly. Ihe election was remarkable for the lack of interest displayed by the electors. There were 74 candidates for the 30 seats. Although tho counting of votes has not progressed sufficiently to give any definite idea of tho result, on present figures it looks as if tho Labour (the present Government party) and the anti-Labour forces will be returned with equal strength--15 each. There is a possibility of Labour gaining a sixteenth seat by four representatives being returned for Denison. None of the three women candidates is likely to be successful. NO CHANGE IN FIGURES. HOBART, Juno 4, (Received Juno 4, at 9 p.m.) There is no material change in tho election figures. The indications are that both parties will secure the return of an equal number of candidates.
