MOSGIEL MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
(Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) The following business was transacted at the Mosgiel Court on jc riday ; Walter Blackio v. Win. J. Marshall. — Claim £7 12s fid, the value of a bullock alleged to have been purchased under a guarantee. The bullock had been afterwards condemned at the Dunedin city abat-toirs.-—Plaintiff stated that on taking delivery o f a line of bullocks he drew the defendant’s attention to the animal in dispute. Defendant said that if the bullock was condemned he would refund t*iQ money. —Defendant, in evidence, denied that there
had been any guarantee. —Evidence was given by R. H. Marshall and D. Wallace.— The Magistrate, after reviewing tho evidence, said that there was no mention of any guarantee in the sale note produced, and Mr Blaokie’s evidence was contradicted by defendant and tho agent who had sold the cattle. Judgment was given for defendant, with £3 5s costs. Mr Win. Allan appeared for plaintiff and Mr Fairmaid for defendant.
Henry Mitchell (Maungatua) was fined £2, with 10s costs, for keeping bees in other than frame hives.—Accused pleaded guilty, and stated that he had never sold any honey, and that he was unaware the regulations applied to those who were not commercial beekeepers. The case Charles Gamble v. John Ellis, which had been before the court on two previous occasions, was again adjourned till April 17. K, E. Densem v. Win. Thompson.—Claim for material and labour for plumbing work £1 15s fid.—Judgment was given for the amount, with costs. Geo. MT.eod v. Mrs O. Smith.—Claim of £2 11s, for stationery supplied.—Judgment for amount, with costs.
