SATURDAY’S SAILING RACES. A race for boats 12ft and under was sailed at Macandrew Bay on Saturday afternoon for a cup presented by Air J. Brown, when the following boats faced the starter: Elsie. Chloo, Spray, Joyce, and Ileatheotc. A fresh north-east breeze was blowing, and the little boats had all they could do to carry on. Punctually at gunfire Joyce crossed the lino first, closely followed by Chloo, Elsie, Heathcoto, and Spray. Iloathcoto soon retired with a broken bowsprit, and Spray, which was sailing well, soon assumed the lead and rounded the turning buoy at Dublin Bay about 45 seconds ahead of Joyce. Chloo retired here owing to flic breeze being too heavy, while Elsie lost a lot of time in having to roef ami later retired owing to breaking a stay, leaving Spray and Joyce to sail out the finish. Spray continued to sail away from Joyce, and finished the first round about smin to the good. Tho second round was a repetition of the first, and although Joyce hoisted a spinnaker on tho run sho could make no impression on Spray, which eventually won by some 19min. MACANDREW BAY REGATTA. A meeting of the Macandrew Bay Regatta, Committee was held on Saturday evening in the boatshed, Commodore E. T. Moller being in the chair.
