Negotiations have just been completed for the purchase by Messrs M'Leod Brothers of the property and works at Burnside of the Otago Co-oporativ© Tallow and By-Producta Company. DAIRY PRODUCE Messrs .Dalgety and do. (Ltd.) report having received the following cablegram from their head office, dated London. January 6: Butter: Since our last wire prices are 4a per cwt lower. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company has received the following cablegram from its London house under date December 31: Butter: Choicest New Zealand salted, 192 s to 196 s per cwt. The market is weak. Cheese: New Zealand white, 98s per cwt; coloured, 97s per cwt. The market is steady. Messrs Joseph Nathan and Co. have received the following cablegram from their London office: New Zealand butter, 170 s; Australian, 1665. LONDON TALLOW SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenoy Company has received the following cablegram from its London house under date January 5; — January Wool Sales. —The list will close on January 12. BUTTER AND CHEESE, GRADING RETURNS. (Peb United Peess Association.) WELLINGTON, January 3. The figures of the Dairy Division of the Department of Agriculture show that the amount of salted butter graded for December was 10,845 tons and unsalted 759 tons, making a total of 11,004 tons —an increase of 23 per cent, over the figures of the previous December. For the five months ended December, 1924, the respective quantities wore 35,501 tons and 2081 tons, a total of 37,582 tons, representing an increase of 21. G per cent. The cheese graded for December, 1924, comprised: White, 76G7 tons; coloured, 4144 tons; —total, 11,811 tons; representing an increase of 1 per cent. Tne quantities for the five months ended December, 1934, wore; White, 00,245 tons; coloured, 31,355 tons; total, 31,600 tons; representing a. decrease of 6.7 per cent. Converting these figures into the butter-fat equivalent there is an increase of 12 per cent, in butter-fat.
