88-STOREY building. A RECORD SKY-SCRAPER, Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, December 9. (Received Dec. 10, at 11.40 p.m.) New York’s right to the title of “the city of skyscrapers” will be undisputed for some time to come if an 88-storey office building be erected in Lower Broadway. Thc ffict that such building is contemplated is vouched for by the architect who designed the 51-storey Woolworth building, which is at present rated as the tallest office structure in the world. He states that tests will be made shortly to determine the extent to which the Woolworth building sways in heavy gales, the purpose of these tests being to ascertain the practicablcness of an 88-storey building. If it is practicable it will be built on the exact location indicated, and it will be near enough to overshadow the Woolworth building.—Reuter.
