lONA TO • REPRESENT OTAGO A UNANIMOUS DECISION. The principal business dealt with by the delegates who attended a meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat. Association last evening was a report from the judges appointed to select Otago’s representative in the Sanders Cup contest a, Auckland in January and February next, a report from the measurer of the sails, and a report in connection with the selection of the crew. After the chairman (Mr W. R. Waders) had stated that these reports would bo considered, Mr E. A. Davys (one of the judges) immediately moved a resolution to the effect that they be dealt with in committee. This was seconded by Mr E. Smith (Port Chalmers) and carried. The delegates spent about an hour in discussing the three reports, and it was then announced in open meeting that lona had been selected to represent Otago at Auckland, and also that the decision was unanimous.
It was further stated that Mr A. Wiseman had been chosen as skipper, and that the crew would" be selected after consultation with him. It would leave Dunedin on Monday, January 25, arriving in Auckland on Wednesday, January 28. The boat would be shipped prior to the crew’s departure. It was decided that tho work of packing Otago’s challenger for the journey to Auckland be left in the hands of Mr A. Wiseman, who will take charge of the boat on the journey to Auckland. Messrs W. H. Waters and E. A. Davys were appointed as Otago’s delegates to the Dominion Yachting Conference to be held in Auckland early in February. Tho Chairman also said that Mr Wisefnan would act on behalf of the association’s delegates until their arrival in Auckland. It was decided that the following remit be submitted to the Dominion Yachting Conference at Auckland “ That sails not of the correct dimensions from point to point, but not exceeding the sail area laid down by the plans, be accepted.”
