SEARCH FOR OIL.
A TARANAKI VENTURE. OPERATIONS IN PROGRESS. (Pee United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, December 10. The search for oil in Taranaki is now entering upon an important stage. The Taranaki Od Wells (Ltd.) will commence drilling at Tarata in the course of a few days, and Dr Frederick Clapp, the eminent American geologist, on whose recommendation the company is exploiting the field, hag now selected a site for the second bore, ibis is on the beach at the port of New Plymouth, near tho original boro put down many years ago.
Arrangements are also being made to select the site of a third bore. It is hoped that results at Tarata will be obtained by February. Mr W. Osborne, geologist of the Sydney University, has joined the staff.
