ARREST ON A LINER.
ALLEGED THEFT OF £7OO. Before the liner Regina left Liverpool for Quebec and Montreal recently, detectives boarded her and arrested Edward Benjamin aged 21, on a charge of stealing £7OO. belonging to a relative in London. ' Benjamin is alleged to have absconded with the money after changing it into Treasury and Bank of England notes. He had been sent to tbe bank to get the change by the lady relative. On the Regina he was travelling third class as “Philip Rex." He was wearing new clothing, and his baggage also was quite new. Most of the money wag recovered.
