BEAM WIRELESS
THE AUSTRALIAN STATIONS. MARCONI COMPANY’S TENDER. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, December 9. In reference to the reported acceptance of tenders for the erection of beam wireless stations, Mr Bruce states that he has received no advice of the tender having been accepted. The Melbourne Age refers to the alleged acceptance as apparently an inspired report, and adds; “It is considered astounding ’that up to the present no official notification of any such decision has been received by the Commonwealth Government from its representatives on the Board of Directors of Amalgamated Wireless, Ltd.”
A Sydney message dated December 3, stated: “A tender from the Marconi Company for the erection in Australia of stations under the new beam wireless system for direct communications between England and Australia has been accepted by the Board of Amalgamated Wireless, Ltd. The stations will have a guaranteed traffic capacity three times greater than that previously guaranteed for a highpower station. It is anticipated that the stations will operate continuously.”
