At to-day’a meeting of the Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association application was made to name a horse "Nepia.” Consideration was deferred. DEATH OF WELL-KNOWN TROTTER. A private message received from Oamaru last night stakes that the well-known pacer Albert Cling died yesterday. Albert Cling was one of the most brilliant pacers in New Zealand during recent years. The fourth of the series of tests to select the Canterbury representative in the Sanders Cup competition was sailed on Lyttelton Harbour this evening, and resulted in a win for Linnet, which has now registered three wins. She beat Secret by 122 sec and Piopio by 3min 17sec. WELLINGTON TRIALS. (Psb United Pubs* Association.) WELLINGTON, December 9. There was an exciting contest in the Sanders Cup trial with Wellesley, All Black, Eynin, and Clare competing. The race was won by Wellesley by a small margin. Of the four contests between Wellesley and All Black, the former has won on each occasion.
