BOXING.
MIDDLE-WEIGHTS IN ACTION. M'DONALD v. ROWE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) INVERCARGILL, December 9. The Municipal Theatre was filled to overflowing last night for the middle-weight bout between Lachie M'Donald (Dunedin), middle-weight champion of New Zealand, and Vio. Rowe (Australia) for a purse of 150sovs. The fight went the full distance, and resulted in a draw. The decision, however, met with a very mixed reception, and there was a strong demonstration in favour of M'Donald. The Dunedin man led throughout, but in the earlier stages Rowo scored well with very clover defensive ■work, and up to the eleventh round the fight was Rowo’s. In the twelfth, however, M'Donald began to fight better, and the last three rounds were in his favour by a good margin. M'Donald was much the more aggressive boxer.
