A REVOLVER DUEL

BANDIT AND BANK MANAGER. SENSATION IN COUNTRY TOWN. , ADELAIDE, November 5. An exciting revolver duel occurred this afternoon between Mr Mohr, manager of the English, Scottish, and Australian. Bank at Wasleys, and a man who attempted to hold him up. Mr Mohr was grazed on tho right hand, and it is believed that the other man was hit, though he escaped. Wasleys is a tow on the north railway line, about 40 miles from Adelaide. Shortly after 3 p.m. a slight-built man of dark complexion, who' had arrived in town in a car ; entered tho bank and got into conversation with tho manager. He wanted to know if he could open an account. Mr Mohr, seeing that the man was wearing a false moustache, and had other means of disguise, became suspicious, and reaching for a credit note with one hand leaned down and got his automatic pistol with the other. Immediately the man opened fire with a revolver, but missed. The manager attempted to get away, and a second shot struck him on tho knuckle and traversed tho full length of the index finger of tho left hand. Mr Mohr opened fire, discharging four cartridges, the other replying with five more shots. The robber is believed to have been struck by one of the bullets, as ho held his side and screamed. Mr Mohr gave the alarm to his wife and she ran out and called for assistance. Several persons came just in time to see a man stagger out of the bank. They rushed towards him but were menaced by his revolver, and the man got away in his car. Several cars gave chase, but although tho man was s|fu he escaped.
