Senator Pearce (Minister of Home and Territories) states that the report that an Arnhem aborigine, who recently arrived at Darwin, had stated that upon the approach of the Huddersfield expedition the natives, with a white woman, went in canoes to an island in the gull, was found to be absolutely incorrect. The Administrator of the Northern Territory states that the only Arnhem natives who have been to Darwin recently are the two who accompanied the expedition. He said the origin of the report was a mystery.
