FIRES.
MOTOR GARAGE GUTTED. FIVE CARS DESTROYED. (Per United Press 'Association.) PAHIATUA, September 20. A firo this morning- (jutted R. Memo's garage. Five cars, five motor cycles, and 10 bicycles were destroyed. The A. and P. Association office was also gutted. The building was owned by Mrs Emily Crewe, and is believed to have been insured for £IOCO. Three of the cars were insured, also the association's effects. OUTBREAK IN HOTEL. INCENDIARISM SUSPECTED. (Per United Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, September 20. The Albert Hotel, one of the oldest hostelries in the city, was found on fire late last night. ' Tho fire "was located in the cellars, and, though looking serious, was extinguished. It is supposed that an employee dropped a cigarette in the straw. Half an hour later three bedrooms on the second Hoor were found alight, all burning fiercely.; They wore bady damaged beforo the fire was suppressed. Incendiarism is suspected in this case. RESIDENCE GUTTED. The residence of Mi' J. Gilmore, Goodwood Bush, was completely destroyed by v fire about midday on Saturday (writes our Palmerston correspondent). Both dwelling and contents were insured in tho Farmers' Mutual, but the amounts are small and Mr Gilmore will be a heavy loser.
