MR WILBUR'S SPEECHES
CONFERENCE WITH PRESIDENT COOLIDGE.

(Received Sept. 21, at 11-5 p.m.) \ Mr Wilbur called at White _ House and after a conference with President Coolidge stated that a special board would tfl appointed to investigate the relative value of air, submarine, and surface exalt, with a view to the adjustment of the budget. He declared that his speeches on tbfl Pacific Coast were not mentioned during the conference. These, ho said, had been misreported. For instance, did . not say there were antagonistic peoples on toe Pacific. He did say that there were opposing civilisations.—Renter. The New York World in an editorial on Mr Wilbur’s recall, a few days ago. said: “If it is not duo to the charactii of his speeches on the Pacific Coast Si White House affirms, it should have been. Only meagre rej>orts of the reached the Atlantic Coast, but these indi«ate that Mr Wilbur has been talking foi a bi<r navy in the best style of the jingo. All of this was dii»cted, of course*: Ai Japan, without the slightest provocation. Mr Coolidge cannot afford to have ito Administration identified with troonkm) bluster of this kind,—but he seems to lx indifferent.”
