At tho athletic meeting in connection with tho International Students’ _ Congness, Porritt (New Zealand) won his heat in the 100 metres flat, in 11 1-lOsec, beating Luciani (of France) and qualifying with five others for the final. Tho congress adopted a decision which was supported by the British students to admit German students to the federation.— Reuter. AMATEUR ATHLETICS. A sports meeting under the auspicos of the Otago Centro New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association will be held on tho Caledonian Grounds on the 27th inst. The programme includes running, jumping, and cycling events, relays, schools’ events, ladies’ events, and a skipping competition for the girls. The local centre of the Piping and Dancing Association will assist with dancing and piping competitions. Entries for all the events close on Monday at the Sports Depot or with the secretary.
