BOXING FATALITY.
TEAGEDY AT PALMERS TOY
Tho boxing tourney -which -was conducted at Palmerston last night was marred hy a tragic ending. Tho final of tho middleweight contest, which also constituted the final bout of tho tourney, was boing fought, when ono of tho contestants, Ronald M‘Oallum, of Goodwood, fell as tho result of a blow from his opponent, striking tho back of his head on the floor. It was at once scon that ho was seriously injured, and Dr Thomas, who was present, immediately took charge of the injured man. An examination showed that M'Callum’s skull was fractured, and, despite the efforts of tho doctor, ho quickly sank and expired. Deceased was very popular, and tho distressing fatality has cast a gloom over tho whole district. Au inquest will bo opened to-day.
