Amongst the cargo of the Ajmeer, from London, which arrived in port on Monday last, were a number of cases of books consigned to the Dunedin Athenaeum and Mechanics’ Institute. . . The arrangements for opening the Dunedin Savings Bank are now completed, and the institution will be opened for the recepit of deposits and general business at the office, Farley’s Buildings, Princes street, on Monday evening next, the 12th instant, between the hours of five and seven o’clock, and on every succeeding Monday evening between the same hours. . . , , •The contractors for the erection of the New General Post Office have commenced operations by erecting a fence around the site. . •
