NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. E. J. MOSS WINS OPEN' EVENT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) AUCKLAND. September 6. The open championship event in the Now Zealand golf meeting, which was resumed at Midcllemore links this morning, in very fine conditions, was won by E. J. Moss with a grand aggregate of 301, A. D. S. Duncan being second with 311 and J. MTntosh third with 313. There was a large gallery of spectators, whose attention was given chiefly to the loading players. Everything favoured accurate golf, a light southerly breeze and bright sunshine giving excellent condition to the course. Play began at 9 o’clock with the third round of the open championship. The outstanding feature of the morning’s play, as it also proved to be in the afternoon, was tho crisp and accurate work of Moss, who completed his round in 76, tho outward ana homeward scores being exactly balanced. At the end of the morning’s play the leading aggregates wereE. A. Moss (Auckland) £!8, A. D. Dunacn (Wellington) 231, J. M’lntosh (Wellington), F. Hood (Miramar), and Kapi Tareha 235 each, A. J. Shaw (Wellington) 238, and T. H. Horton (Maaterton) 238. Duncan was not up to his form of the opening day, while Tareha again succeeded in making many noteworthv drives, but was weak on the greens. Horton was in trouble with his putting throughout. Tho fourth round waa almost a repetition of the third, and the interest of spectators was concentrated on Moss and Duncan. The former played with steadiness, and returned a card of 73, going out in 38 end returning in 35. Tlie following are the complete scores in the third and fourth rounds of the open championship, tho players marked with an asterisk being professionals:—
