WEDDINGS.

A quiet, but very pretty wedding, was solemnised recently in tho Wainiata Presbyterian Chnrch. the contracting parties being Miss Jessie Allison I.aing, formerly of Canada, and Mr Robert Anthony Paterson. only son of Mr and Mrs A. J. Pater-

son, “Mossbank,” Waipiata. The Rev. A. J. Davis was the officiating minister, and Mrs G. Mathias presided at Jhe organ. The bride, who entered the church, on the arm. of Mr F. Mathias, looked very charming in a frock of cream panne velvet made cross-over fashion with a beautiful pearl ornament and • having sleeves of silver radium lace. She wore the customary veil which was made in the mob cap style daintily ornamented with orange blossoms and carried a shower bouquet of camellias and spring owers. She -was attended by Miss Dorothy Paterson, the bridegroom’s sister, who was smartly gowned in pastel fawn velovt with sleeves of georgette, and hand-made embroidery, and who carried a pretty early-Victorian posy of spring flowers. Misses Cora and Grace Mathias, who were flower girls, wore pale blue velvet frocks trimmed' with white fur, with hats to match, and carried baskets of spring flowers. Mr R. H. Templeton acted as best man. The church was very prettily decorated, a feature being an arch made with greenery, white ribbon streamers and horse shoes suspended from which was a largo white wedding bell under which the nuptial knot wag tied. The happy couple left the church amidst showers of confetti and multi-coloured streamers. After (ho ceremony the guests motored to “The Beeches,” tl)e residence of Mr and Mrs F. Mathias, whore a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of in the huge dining room- which was prettily decorated for the occasion. The usual toasts were honoured and telegrams of congratulation read, after which the happy couple left by train for Dunedin and the north, where the honeymoon is to be spent. For travelling the bride wore a silver grey frock and a handsome fawn oriental braided velour coat with 'hat to match. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a suede and gold mounted pocket wallet. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a cheque, and to the bridesmaid and flower girls Nellie Stewart , bangles. Among the guests present were Mr and Mrs A. J. Paterson, Mr and Mrs J. B. Coram, Mesdamcs W. Brown (St. Kilda), Provan (N.asoby), A. W. Brown (Dunedin), Elliot (Middlemarch), Dowle, Howell; Misses Paterson (2), Ferguson, Clarke, Indor, Bowie, Roberts, Grace; Messrs Helm. Mathias, Howell, Roberts, Squires, M‘Donald. The future home of Mr and Mrs R. A. Paterson is. to be at “Spring Bank,” Waipiata, Otago Central.

At. the Strand Salon eatrly yesterday afternoon Florence, elder daughter of Mr A. Hart, of Lawrence, was married by the Rev. .Father Farthing, of Lawrence, to Donald, youngest son of the late Mr Donald M’Killop and Mrs M’Killop, of “Braeval,” Nairn, Scotland. Pink rhododendrons and primus made beautiful decorations, and in the_ reception room the tables were gay with jonquils. The bridal frock was of brocaded satin, becomingly draped and ornamented with a diamond buckle, and the net veil beautifully hand-embroidered, was held in place with a Russian head-dress of orange blossom. With this outfit was carried a bouquet of freesias and cyclamens. There were three bridesmaids—Miss Muriel Hart, Miss Barbara M’Killop, and Miss Alison M’Killop. They wore frocks of soft white georgette with pin-tucked skirts and posies of blue and pink forget-me-nots at the waists; while georgette hats trimmed in blue and pink forgot-me-nots and blue streamers, completed the toilettes, and they carried early Victorian posies of pink and blue hyacinths and forget-me-nots. Mr R. O’Meara, of Oamaru, was best man. After the ceremony, the guests—relatives of the bride and bridegroom—were entertained at a reception at which Mrs H.. Hart, of George street, was hostess. She wore a gown of black satin and lace, a black hat with feather^,'ermine furs, and carried a bouquet of many© anemones. Mrs M’Killop was dressed in pale cinnamon georgette with a hat to tone trimmed in ostrich feathers, and carried a posy of wallflowers. Miss Arney, of Lawrence, aunt of the bride, wore a handsome beaded frock of coffeecoloured beaded crepe, de chine with a hat to match. , Later Mr and Mrs M’Killop left on a motor tour, the bride travelling in a grey morocain frock, navy blue coat heavily embroidered in fawn and navy blue and a smart navy blue hat relieved with white.
