BUSINESS OF PARLIAMENT.
FULL ATTENDANCE WANTED. , SLIPSHOD METHODS CONDEMNED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, August 2(3. BUSINESS OF PAKLIAMBNT. It is evident from an incident in the House this afternoon that the Prime Minister stands for no slipshod methods of getting through the business of the country. When leave was sought for the Woolston Tanneries’ Committee to sit while the House was meeting, the Prime Minister indicated that while ho would not oppose the request for that day, he did not approve of the practice. On a recent occasion when committee work was being done during the sitting time of the House lie had-noticed that there were not more than 25 to 30 members present in the Chamber for a considerable portion of the afternoon. He liked to sec the business of the House done well, and would rather sec Parliament adjourn for an afternoon than that things should not be done well. He hoped the practice would not be continued.
