COUNCIL OF CHRISTIAN CONGREGATIONS.

The quarterly meeting of the Council of Christian Congregations was held last nitrM in the Crvpt of the Cathedral. The KeV. E. H. Bcllhoiise (Vice-President), occupied the chair. The Rev. C. Dullaston opened the meeting with prayer. Mr E. Rosevearc, .treasurer, presented the balance sheet of the. Gipsy Pat Smith Mission, which was felt to be eminently satisfactory. The balance sheet was adopted oh the motion of Messrs W. H. Adams and J, M. Innes. Mr Adams expressed warm appreciation of the very efficient services rendered in connection with the Mission by Mr Roseveare and the Rev. B. H. Kempton. Great pleasure was expressed that th® public had contributed so generously to the cost of the Mission. The treasurer remarked that in no previous big Mission had the giving been so liberal. The heartv appreciation of the Council was recorded of the faithful services rendered by the secretary and treasurer, by the Rev. Tnlloch Yuille and office bearers of Knox Church, bv Rev. W. Walker, as Convener of the Personal Workers, and by Mr Magnus Johnson, as advertising agent. Revs. E. X. Merrington, M.A., 8.D.. W. Walker, and Tulloch Yuille, M.A, 8.D., were elected members of the Executive. It was remitted to the Executive to draw up a programme for the celebration of the Silver Jubilee of the Council, which was established 25 years ago. Reference was made to the request of the bands to the City Council that they he permitted to hold Sunday concerts for the raising of funds, and it was resolved that the council express its earnest protest against the proposal and its hope that the City Council would decline the request. The Council adjourned early in order that its members might attend Professor Adams’s lecture.
