DUNEDIN NORTH AMENITIES

’Hie second annual meeting of the Dunedin North and Leith Amenities Society was hold in the George Street School Hall last night, when the president (Mr John Gray) presided over an attendance of about SO. The patron (Bishop Richards) was also present. The President, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, said that the society had reason to congratulate itself on the work that had been ,(1000 during the first year of its existence. The society had been instrumental in getting the City Council to improve the bed of the Leith, and lights had also been put on the Bullock Track leading from the Woodhaugh Valley up to Maori Hill, and at Woodhangh, where the swimming pool had been cleared out. Further, representations had been made to have the road up the Woodhangh Valley regradoff, as it was almost impassable in winter time. This work was soon to lie done. It was next hoped to secure some means of public conveyance for Leith residents. Tbe motion was seconded by Mr C. .Wilson and carried. The ejection of office-bearers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron, Bishop Richards; president, Mr John Gray; vice-presidents —-Messrs C. A. Wilson and Robert Ferguson: hon. secretary, Mr Walter Paterson; hon. treasurer, Mr B. K. Ferguson; committee—Messrs W. Boss, E. Paterson, G. Newey, H. Rowley, C. Evans, W. R. Sinclair. E. J. Thompson, Donaldson, and G. Wilson; auditor, Mr D. Leslie.
