That newspaper advertising is by far the most popular form of publicity in New Zealand was proved recently by an investigation conducted by the , Charles Haines Advertising Agency (Ltd.), of Auekladn Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. A questionnaire was sent to hundreds of business houses right throughout New Zealand seeking th© relative value of different, media according to the actual experiences of substantial advertisers. An analysis of the replies showed that no less than 95 per cent, of New Zealand publicists prefer newspapers above all other methods of advertising, and. of that number, 86 per cent, prefer daily newspapers. Those practical conclusions, of coarse, simply support the principles that have iong since been discovered in this country, although they are probably not known to Uie-great hulk of the general public. Not only is newspaper advertising the most popular medium of publicity, hut it is also the most effective and economical—in New Zealand, at any rate. In this dominion there is roughly one newspaner to every 7000 men, women, and children of the population. This is a world’s record, o» a comparison with other countries illustrates.
