(Received August 25, at 5.5 p.m.) Ten thousand spectators witnessed the greatest international athletic contest since the war. The ICO metres resulted: Houben (Germany) 1, Carr (Australia) 2. Porritt (New Zealand) 3. Time, 10 3-ssec. Houben boat the pistol by a metre, but was not recalled. Carr drew level at 60 metres and made a great effort, failing by a yard. The 200 metres resulted: Carr I, Ereugor (Germany) 2, Kappard (Germany) 3. Carr led all the way. Time, 21 4-3 seconds. Carr and Porritt were enthusiastically received.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
