GREEN ISLAND DROWNING FATALITY.

THE BODY RECOVERED. The body of David Strang, who was washed off the rocks n,t Green Island on Sunday afternoon and drowned, was recovered early yesterday morning. In the afternoon Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., sitting ae Coroner, conducted an inquest at the Morgue, with Sergeant Turner representing the police. Evidence was given by George Radio, who raid that at noon on Sunday he and the deceased wont, to Ihe Green Island rocks to fish. Witness was fishing with a rod and line and tho deceased with a, line only. About 3.15 p.m. witness, who had lost his line, was sitting down about five feet behind t.ho deceased, who was fishing from the rocks, when he saw a big wave coming. After snouting out a warning he turned round and caught hold of the rocks, the wave going over his back. Looking back witness saw Strang about 15 yards out in the water, and sank in a few minutes. Later John Walker and John Lindsay onrnc on the scene to look for the body and witness informed the man’s wife of the accident and (hen notified Constable Hamilton, at Green Island, who organised a search party, with tho result that the hodv of deceased was found at high water mark about 6.30 ■> <

Evidence was alap given by Timm as Louden Austin and Caws table Hamilton, after which the Ooroner returned a verdict that the deceased was accidentally drowned at Green Island Beach on August 24.
