OTAGO RUGBY LEAGUE.
PRACTICE CAME ON THE OVAL. The first practice panic played hy footballers who have associated themselves with the Otago Rugby League look place <m the Oval on Saturday afternoon, and was witnessed by a, fairly large number of spec, tutors. More than 20 players took part, each side consisting of rather more players than flip regulation number for this code. Some five or six players appeared in Zin-gari-Ricbmond jerseys, throe or four in Alhambra colours, and others in uniforms associated with the ' Union. Kaiknrai, Southern, Dunedin, Ravensbourne, and University Clubs. It. docs not follow, however, that players from all the clubs named have gone over to the League game. Up to the present about 70 plavors have signed up to play the League code. Too game was ven fast throughout, the ball being kepi in nlay practically all the lime, nnd being thrown from one man to another with groat freedom. r l he mmutators watched the game with keen interest, and, judging by the comments made on the line from time to time, they are looking forward to some very attractive displays when the players become more familiar with the code and with each other’s play. The teams, which may he called A and 13, had ns their respective captains 11. Thomas and Watson. Some fine runs were seen during (he game, but these were partly duo to the weakness of the tackling which was not of a high standard at times. J‘or the A team tries were scored hv Thomas, MTvny, Cropsan. Cameron (2), Gordon, and Lorimer. and the scorers for the U foam wore Watson, Raul, and another. The A team had the best of the game, hut at half-lime there was only one point between the scores, which were 12-11 in favour of the A players. Towards (he end of tile game the A team asserted their superiority, and by srorimr three tries, one of which was converted, finished np winners 23 points to 11. r 'be most prominent nbiyers were Jacobs. Connelly, Crnssan. Mitchell, Cameron, Thomas. Lorimer, and Watson. Just before half-time Fckho(T received a nasty cut over the eve. and had to leave Ibe field. The game was controlled by. Mr T.
