HARRIERS.
CIVIL SERVICE. The Civil Service Harriers held their weekly run from the Tort Chalmers Rowing Club's shod. There was a full muster of members. Riper was dispensed with, and the pack under the control of Captain Haiie,, followed the road through Port Chalmers to the Queen’s Drive Rowing shed, and then round the track to Mussel Hay, from which place a fast run home was made. The members were afterwards the guests of the Anglican Ladies’ Guild, and a very enjoyable social evening was spent. The thanks of the club a.re due to the Port Chainlets Rowing Club for the use of its shed. CAVEIRHAM. The Caversham Harriers held a one nnlo race for this season’s novices along the road outside Mrs Heatson’s residence, Win■rat'd, about Id competitor,.; facing toe "la-ter 'Mr O. O. Phillips), who had given the prise-. for tire race. Tim limit men set oh at a fast pace, Maclarcn leading till the half-mile mark, when some of the backmarkers began to close up. In a close finish Mills ItOyds) came on a winner from \nderson (70yds), second, and Gibbs (scr), third. Following the race the championship far thiowing tho discus ami pulling the shot were held. The results were ns follows: Thowning the discus —I, Grown (70ft lOIin) 1, W. J. Gibbs (Gaft Udin) 3, A. J. Mills (67ft lO.Vin) 3. Putting Hie shot—W. J. Gibbs (33ft of.in) 1, J. Beataon (33ft llin) 2, A. J. Mills (31ft 4in) 3. Afterwards the members of the club were entertained at tea by Mrs Beatson. The captain (Mr W. J. Gibbs), on behalf of the club, thanked Mrs Beatson for her hospitality, and also welcomed Mr 0. O. Phillips back to the club, as that was the. first occasion on which the veteran runner had turned out for the last two seasons, having been absent from Dunedin during that period. ANGLICAN. The Anglican Harriers held an outing on bicycles from the Y.M.C.A. Members had been looking forward to the event, so the attendance Was good. From the V.M.C.A. ihe riders journeyed south along Princes street and then akng the Anderson’s Bay
mad. By I'no lime Anderson's Bay was rea-cbed the online had developed into a race, which resulted in M'Kernan arriving first at Broad Bay, idler setting a very fast pace. T'ne homeward journey was a very eventful one, MTvornan arriving home ahead of Provo nnd ilatthe ws.
