SIXTY YEARS AGO. FROM THE Otago Daily Times. “ Inveniam viam aut faciam.” THURSDAY, AUGUST 25, 1864.

COMMERCIAL. Daily Timer. Office, Wednesday evening. The Lawdcr station on the Manuhcrikia, belonging to Messrs W. and C. 1. Black, with 5000 sheep, 50 ranis, 6 bullocks, arm 3 horses, was offered by public auction to-day in the Provincial Hotel by Messrs Driver, Maclean, and Co The sale attracted a largo attendance of squatters and others interested in station property. The bidding opened at, 010,000 and crept slowly up to LII.IOO, at which the run was knocked down to Mr Uogle. The impression amongst those who understood the value of such property was that the price obtained was a very full one, considering that it, was the mere run with the stock on it, there being no house, sheds, or any of the other usual appliances for working the station, all of which must bo erected by the purchaser.
