THE LAMBING SEASON.

PROSPECTS GOOD IN MANAWATtr DISTRICT. (Fhom Ooe Own Coreespondent.) PALMERSTON NORTH, August 22. Lambing is proceeding very satisfactorily, and the prospects for the now season, both for mutton and wool, are considered to be good. In the Mnnawatu district the black-faced breed is a little earlier than usual with lambing, which is consequently almost finished. Breeders are desirous of having lambs away from their mothers by Christmas, so that they can gather the ewes and get them away early. The winter conditions have been very satisfactory, and generally speaking lambing should produce a good yield. Mortality is quite normal.
