PROPOSED EXPEDITION. DR BUCK SELECTED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) ' WELLINGTON, August 10. > The Government has selected Dr P. If. Ruck {‘‘Terangihiroa”) to represent New Zeland on the expedition to the South Seas at the end of the year. The expedition is being arranged by the wealthy endowed American Institution—the Bishop Museum of Honolulu, whose authorities have invited a representative of the New Zealand Gov eminent. It is proposed to visit the northern Cook Group and to make a study of the ethnology, _ measurements, and dialects of the Polynesian races. In recommending Dr Buck to the Government's consideration, the Maori Ethnological Board sts.ted that his wide knowledge of these subjects fitted him for the position.
