N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. OTAGO MEN’S SUCCESSES. (Pkb United Pa ess Association.) WELLINGTON, August 12. There was a good attendance at the second, night, of the New Zealand boxing championships. Nearly every bout was Keenly contested. Several competitors showed a good knowledge of boxing. Results: MIDDLE-WEIGHTS. L. O’Neill, 11. If, (West Coast) outpointed Y. ,1. Parker, 11.0 (Auckland), after an uninteresting bout. FLY-WEIGHTS. T. Taylor, 7,&i (Auckland) was too strong for W. Seastout (Hawke’s Bay), and the towel was thrown in after the first round. 1. Leckie, 7.8 i (Otago) made the pace .gainst S. Purton, 7.8 (West Coast), and connect! o- freely with, both hands, kept h oponent on defence. Leckio won wcil. FEATHER-WEIGHT. L. Drew, 8.12. J (Otago) outpointed N. Moulin, (Canterbury), after an uninteresting bout, which was evenaly contested. LIGHT-HEA VY WEIG HTS. After an even bout, in which both men showed good knowledge of boxing, J. G. Lcckie, 11.10 J (Otago) outpointed W. Hunt, U.Oi (Wellington). WELTER-WEIGHTS. After a willing bout, in which both traded blows freely, A. Hay. 10.7 (Hawke’s Bay) outpointed N. M'Knight, 10.4 (Auckland) by a fair margin of points. Neither W. Walden, 10.7 J (Wellington) or F. Smithcram, IU.I (Otago) showed a great knowledge of boxing, and the former won after a poor bout. LIGHT-WEIGHT. D Torwern, 9.8 (Auckland) scored a second knock-out by putting J. Powley, 9-12 (Southland) down for the full count in the nrat After being battered by a persistent fighter J. Bindley, 9.7 J (Otago) retired at the end of the third round in his bout with D. Loveridge, 9.10 (Wellington). Lovendge kept on top of his man the whole time. BANTAM-WEIGHTS. Wilmot (Hawke’s Bay) was unable to make the weight, and R. Hayward (Wellington) won by default. . , , T.
