THE SCOUT MOVEMENT.
GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S SUPPORT. v (Peb United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. _ August 1. The dominion Chief Scout, Viscount Jcllicoo, in a letter to tho Executive Committee of tho Dominion Boy Scout Council, states that as certain people in the dominion and elsewhere’are about to oppose tho Boy Scout movement, accusing it of having a military character, his Excellency thought it might bo useful if publicity were given to an extract (which he enclosed) from the official journal containing the records of the Fourth Assembly of the League of Nations hold at Geneva in 1923. The extract sets out a resolution .submitted oy the Chilian delegation inviting the States’ members of tho League to give travelling facilities to groups of Boy Scouts or Girl Guides when travelling from tho territory of one State to that of another, on the grounds that both movements “promote closer relations and a bettor understanding between the younger generation of ail nation's, and render very real and valuable services in the cause of world peace." A resolution also affirms that it would be desirable to afford all possible assistance to the Boy Scouts’ International Bureau m carrying out its international task.
