Tho poppies offered for sale in I lie streets of Dunedin In-dry are replicas of tho Flanders red peony which has b?on unisally adopted as the symbol of sacrifice by all the Allied nations participating in the Great War. The sale, to-day particularly commends itself to tho Dunedin public as tho proceeds will bo used to alleviate tho unemployment among ex-serrimmen in Dunedin by employing them on various works about the city. The work done in tho past—and also the work mapped out for this year—is not confined to any particular locality, but has lionefited every suburb. It is hoped that all classes of the community will respond liberally to tho appeal made.
