N.Z. AND SOUTH SEAS EXHIBITION.

The weekly meeting of the directors of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition Company was held last night, and was attended by Messrs J. Sutherland ' Boss (chairman), C. Speight, W. R. Hayward, l C. Todd, A. Barnett, 11. F. Sincock, ana T. Somerville. It was decided to appoint Chief Inspector T. R. Fleming to (lie Education Court Committee. It was decided to write and thank th« St. John Ambulance Brigade for 'its -ofier to supply two ambulance men nightly during the course of the Exhibition, and to accept the offer. It was agreed to devote 10j acres 'on the northern part of the ground to th» amusement, park. FINE ARTS COMMITTEE.

Iho Fine Arts Committee reported, inter' alia, as follows;—“A letter from the director, Napier Technical College, was rea<il r ' and the action of the chairman and Mr Halsted was confirmed in authorising the secretary to postpone the date of closing the competition for medal and diploma until September 1, 1924. The secretary that the directors had asked Srr Lindo Icrguson to accept the position of honorary travelling commissioner, and had requested him to see the art authorities ,n America and induce them to send et collection of works of art. The secretary was instructed to supply Sir Lindo witn all possible information as to freight, ipi surancc, commission on sales, etc. ' The architect wrote sending four blue prints of the art gallery. '" The report of the Concessions Committee read as follows:—“ The secretary stated that the directors had adopted the report ot the meeting on July 14, 1924, the suggestion to advertise in Sydney afitf Melbourne, and had decided to confine, advertisements to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill', i The secretary stated that the matter of tea room in the dome of the concert hall was not yet decided upon, so further consideration. of matter of restaurants and tea rooms was deferred.” Other clauses in the report referred to the conditions relating to mafble hurt, fruit and confectionery stalls, etc. ' The report was adopted. ■/ Mr Todd said this report covered tbs final arrangements of the committee re? garding marble bars, etc., and applications could now be called for the various PUBLICITY COMMITTEE. The Publicity Committee reported, inlflf alia, that at its latest meeting the secret tary had stated that the report of the meeting of July 14 had been adopted by tho , directors, who had authorised the purchase of 10,000 copies of award rules and lists at a cost of £l2O. The Horticulture Committee reported as follows: —“The secretary stated that the report of the meeting of July 15 had been ; approved by the directors, who had granted the committee the sum of £2OO for the purchase of ornamental shrubs and plants to be used for decorative purposes inside the Exhibition buildings. the question of supply of geranium' plohte was deferred until next meeting. The secretary reported that Mr Tannock considered that the clay was being spread too thickly on the ground. Resolved that Messrs Hapacl and Hart inspect the work that is done, and after consultation with Mr Tam; nook communicate with the chairman o* the Works Committee.” The report was adopted. “ SPORTS COMMITTEE. .
