The outside of the trial grass provided excellent going for the fast J, work. There was a lot of useful work, hut nothing specially exciting. ' Rivalry and Escarpment sprinted half a mile in 51sec, and Barn Owl ran five furlongs by himself in Imin 6 2-ssec. Giant- ' killer and Star Ranger finished together after doing five furlongs in imin 4 4-P-c. There was nothing to choose between , ' ning Hit and Deucalion at the end oi six 1 furlongs run in Imin 21 3-seec, a journey which Tiff covered by himself in Imin 20scc. ! Palestrina covered seven furlongs in Imm 34 l-ssec. Bonita joined in for the last halfmile, and beat his mate home, but they oocugied 55sec for that part of the journey. Eyperion and ICiloannich sprinted about three furlongs down the straight, and Thorndale sprinted half a mile up the back in 50&ec, Hungry Hill joining in for the last three furlongs. Petunia and Moisello occupied 52 3-Ssec over half a mile, Weeta was going better than Te Anau Lad at the end of half a mile run in 51 3-saec. Fassin’ Through and Maunga were companions in a working gallop once round the sand. Many Kittle and Pilliewinkie ran down from the half-mile _ mark in Slsec, and Brown Lady covered six furlongs alone in Imin 21 3-seec. Paul Pry did useful work on the sand. Red Wink _ and Clareina finished together after sprinting half a mile in 52 3~ssec, while The Polymnian and Lucinetto almost from a stand covered six furlongs in Imin 21 4-ssec. Carawock and Dick went once round the fences, giving a good exhibition of jumping. Boomerday and Royal Fame jumped five hurdles, giving a good exhibition at a sound pace. Prince Ferouz, with a big advantage in weight, easily defeated Broadwood over six furlongs, the last halfmile of which occupied 54-aec. Sir Rosebery and Lochson ran a mile, taking lmij\ 35 2-ssec over the last seven furlongs, and finishing together. Wharfedale appeared to be going better than Warseer at the end of six furlongs run in Imin 19 4-ssec. Boadicea ran five furlongs in Imin 6aec, without being unduly hurried. Royal Star and San Forte were together at the end of nine furlongs lun in 2mm 6 2-ssec, with the former going comfortably. Polthogue started with them, but was badly beaten. Taralga covered a mile by himself in Imin 54 4-sseo. Revel and Angelica occupied 53 2-ssec over a half-mile sprint. Charlatan and Sayonara were companions over a mile run in Imin 50 3-6 sec, while Dame Straitlace went about six furlongs alone at a sound pace. Pamplona and Mettle Drift covered a male and a-quarter in 2min 22sec, finishing together. Votist and Camel Amble kept together all through’a useful spin over six furlongs. Oakleigh and Silverton gave a nice performance in a school over the country, starting at the stand brush and finishing over it. Kauwhero started off alone from the stand fence, but baulked at the first of the double. Later he set out behind Oakleigh and Silverton, and got round all right, though he was tiring at the finish, blundering at the last fence. Knocklyn, with a big pull in the weights, beat Ravenna over six furlongs in Imin 19 4-Sseo. Wapping finished in front of Kukume after doing seven furlongs in Imin 34 2-seec, but Kukume’s effort was quite good, as she carried a big weight. Blue Socks and Miss Garance were well matched in a smart run over four hurdles. Will Oakland finished well in a sprinting task. The Otago Hunt Club is holding a point-to-podnt steeplechase on the Wingatui Racecourse to-morrow, and a good afternoon’s sport is assured. As all the events are for qualified hunters, great interest will bo taken in the race. There is no charge lor admission. For those intending to bo present the 2.15 train from town will allow them to reach the course in good time and return trains leave Wingatui at 4.55 and 5.15 p.m. GOLF.
