MINING.
In reporting on the progress at Muir's Gold Reefs, To Puke, during May, the gtmeitil manager, Mr J. 11. Noble, states that tiio shaft was sunk 3;Ht. making a total depth of 4&Tit. A further improvement in the country rock has taken place, that through which sinking has progressed latterly being of a, firm and particularly favommilc nature. A storm resulted in interruptions to the electric power aupp-y on May 25 and tw’o succeeding days, which. interfered with pumping. As a result the water rose I,'iOß in the shaft, which was not dewatered till the last day of the month.
