FIRE AT GISBORNE.
PRIVATE HOTEL DESTROYED,
(Peh United Pkksh Association.) GISBORNE, June 19. Early this evening lire, practically destroyed the Arcadia Private Hotel, a lar'-e two-storey wooden building of 55 rooms. It was owned by Mr T. G. Lawless, and occupied by Mr W. O'Reilly. No furniture was saved, and most of the boarders lost 'their private effects. The insurances on the furniture totalled £IOOO. The amount on the building was not ascertainable.
The City Fire Brigade received a cal! at 7 o’clock last evening to what proved to be an automatic false alarm from Reid and Grayfa. premises in Princes street south. - ■
