A wireless message giving the latest developments in the French political situation was sent from the Lafayette land station, where it was received on, board the steamer Mooltan, now in harbour here Though the distance covered was 10,000 miles the calls were so loud that they were clearly heard when the headpiece was laid on the table. MYSTERIOUS WELLINGTON MESSAGE. A PROBABLE EXPLANATION. SYDNEY. June 19. In connection with the mysterious wireless S.O-S call received by the Wellington wireless station on Monday, the manager of the Yamashita Shipping Company states; that the Java Maru is stranded near Kobe, and this, he believed, would account for the message received in New Zealand. He adds that it is gratifying to learn that Australia and New Zealand will be able to communicate so closely with Japan by means of radio at no distant date. The Java Marti is a steel screw steamer of 4606 tons, belonging to the Ovalsa Shosen Kabushihi Kaisha. Her principal dimensions are : —Length. 38?,ft; breadth, 48ft lin; depth, 28ft.
