DISPOSAL OF PLANT. EXPLANATION IN THE COMMONS. Pices Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, June 18. {Received Juno 19, at 6.5 p.m.) In tho House of Commons, replying a question by Viscount Gurzon, Mr C. G. Ammon (Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty) said lie was aware that the plant which load been collected for 'tire Singapore base had been ottered for sale, Tho contingency of the scheme having to be proceeded with in certain events had not been overlooked, and no offers would bo accepted which would be likely to involve tne State in a loss. He added that nothing which had been done would prejudice future action. The plant ottered included everything which would deteriorate by keeping. It might generally be accepted as right that the other material y/a-s not being ottered.—Reuter. The London Times recently reproduced an announcement from tho Straits Times according to which the plant collected at Singapore, presumably for the naval base, was ottered for sale by the British Government.
