Norwegian police were surprised recently at Ihe unusually large number of obo.se persons in certain igations showed that, they were spirit smugglers, for whom an enterprising tinsmith had evolved light aluminium receptacles, which were attached to the body bv straps, and capable of holding large quantities of liquor. In smuggling districts the police now approach any person of unusual proportions, and politely ask , for permission to tap them. If a metallic ring follows the tapping, the unfortunate victim is arrested.
